Here are some additional resources related to rent and utility assistance. You must first apply to these organizations and provide proof of your approval or denial before applying for financial assistance through Charity's Hope. After you have applied for the below resources, PLEASE CALL to inquire of funds availability before submitting your Charity's Hope Rent & Utility Assistance application:

Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA): The Colorado Department of Local Affairs offers emergency rental assistance for Coloradans who have fallen behind on rent, meet income limits, and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Funds are available temporarily and disbursed until fully exhausted. If you're experiencing eviction proceedings, you can apply during the pre-application period or contact the CARE Center for immediate support.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): LIHEAP provides financial assistance with home energy costs. Eligibility is based on financial need, and participation in specific benefit programs (such as SNAP, SSI, TANF) may automatically qualify you.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI): SSI qualification requirements include limited income, limited resources, and U.S. citizenship or qualified alien status.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Those who require rent or utility assistance must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Applicants must reside in El Paso County.

Applicants must receive an eviction or disconnect notice.

Applicants must first apply to Red Cross, Mercy's Gate, the Colorado Springs Housing Authority, or the Pikes Peak Community Action Agency.

Applicants must furnish two forms of identification: a state i.d. or driver's license, social security card, and proof of residency.

Applicants must not have received rent or utility assistance from our agency within a 12-month consecutive period.
